Get to know The Beautiful Soul Singer, Desiree Jordan


This young soul is full of spirit and an amazing gift. Her vocals and the way she plays the piano is incredible. I first met her at a show by Anthony Hampton, a local D.C. event planner for club Park. At the time, I was covering the event for Que's live performance, formal group member of Day26, for EliteDC Magazine upcoming issue. Desiree had various solos and an amazing duet with Que. Her voice and energy on the stage blew me away instantly. I suggest you all Get to know her a little better and support real music by supporting her as an artist.


1. Desiree, where were you born and raised?

I was born in Washington, DC and was raised in Silver Spring, MD.


2. How would you describe your sound?

I classify myself as an Alternative Soul singer.


3. Who is your biggest influence, personal and in the music industry?

My biggest personal influence would be my very musical family. I grew up watching my grandmother play the piano and direct the church choirs, and saw my mom and pop, older cousins and extended relatives all sang in church.

Musically, I would say that I’m influenced by ALL music I encounter, from Gospel to R&B, to Alternative and Electronic to Rock! But my absolute FAVORITE artist is… Prince Oww-wa! lol


4.How do you stay on top of your game in this industry with new competition every other day?

The best way that I know to stay on top of my game is to continue to ALWAYS BE MYSELF. It definitely IS important to stay up-to-date with the current trends of what’s going on, but what is important to me is to be true to me, both musically and personally.

If I am always true to myself, people will always feel what I’m doing because people identify with a REAL person!


5. What advise can you tell other young girls trying to do the same thing you are doing to get where you are now?

First and foremost, to any and every young lady who aspires to be in the entertainment industry, know who YOU are and TRUST in God. Because those are the two people/entities that will never leave you. Be in touch with your spirituality, because then you will never lose yourself in the craziness of the world.

Secondly, I encourage ALL ladies to go for what they want, but always respect yourself. You don’t have to lower your standards or go against your morals to be successful. I recently read somewhere that “Real success is more of an inward feeling than an outward show.”


6. Where do you see yourself in the next 3yrs?

I see myself signed to a major label, with an album (or two) out, touring and really connecting with my world-family through music and love!


7. Who is the producer you are dying to work with?

Whew… Honestly I would like to work with Kanye West. I truly respect his commitment to “Keeping Good Music Alive” <-- (that’s my (original) slogan!)


8. Where can we find your music and keep in touch with you?

9. Whats one thing you want your fans to know about you that they don't know yet?

Hmm… My fans don’t know that… I LOVE going to the movies. I’m a huge ACTION movie buff, and I LOVE watching the TV show “House”.


10. Whats your Zodiac sign and are you single and if so why being such a pretty girl?

I’m a true VIRGO baby! As for my relationship status… I want that to remain a ~mystery~ lol! But Thank you so much for that compliment!!

4. Are you single if so why, being such a beautiful and successful woman?

~~MYSTERY~~ haha It’s definitely a challenge to be a woman in the music industry, but I think it’s best if people don’t know if I’m single or involved, because then they would have to make business a priority FIRST, since they don’t know the deal!

5. If you was to describe your personality in a metaphorically way of a
dessert what would it be and why?

HAHAHAHAAA… I would describe myself as Tiramisu: sweet and smooth, and spongy like tiramisu because I just absorb positive energy from my surroundings!

The Mysterious Miss Diddy tells it all...

I managed to get this Amazing, Beautiful, and Young woman to sit down with me for this interview and I came out with more than what I expected. Miss.
