Lamar Edwards a.k.a Mars (1500orNothin)
It was a Wonderful pleasure to speak to someone so successful but yet so humble in the music Industry like Lamar Edwards aka Mars. He is a producer who is very passionate about his art. He grew up in Lancaster,Ca in a family with many musicians. He has a very strong upper hand on other producers now days because he is Handsome with a beautiful smile lol but mainly he is very versatile in his sounds. Right After high school Mars continued producing music and came together with the Band 1500 or Nothin with Larrance, Bam, Brody Brown, and Uncle Chucc. lol it was funny to me how they came up with the name 1500 or Nothin. Every time they would perform on stage they wouldn't accept nothing less than $1500. So they would always say "1500 or Nothin" and people started knowing them by that. Young as he is, Mars has worked with some of the biggest names in the game right now like TI, Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco, Snoop Dog, Game, Mary Mary, and so many more. For the Ladies who don't know this, Mars is the one responsible for producing "Take You Down" by Chris Brown which was my favorite Jam. Now lets check out a few questions he answered for us......
1)What new projects have you been working on since I last interviewed you?
Recently did a song with TI and nelly produced by tip lil c and myself (smash factory) called "she's so fly" on nellys 5.0 cd. Also did a few songs on tips album "No mercy" including the takers "yeah you know" song as well as "can't help it" feat rocko. Prod by me and tip I also did a song w rance from 1500ornothin called "follow ur dreams" 4 tip as well. Currently just working on music for chris brown, tweet, did a few things 4 lupe and I've been in contact w Game while he's been touring I've been sending him heat as well. I also just did my 1st feature as an artists 4 david banner and 9th wonders album. I just did a song 4 gospel group "mary mary" they're finishing up their album now. Just talked 2 b.o.b yesterday about workin on his next album as well as tyrese. JoiStaRR who's an artist and writer (written 4 chris brown, marymary, angie stone, tweet and sings w kanye) is releasing her 1st album in 2011 which me and her brother warryn campbell produced entitled "magic" so look out 4 that as well. There's much more..just keep your ears open.
2) What should we be expecting from you in 2011?
you should expect to see and hear a lot from me and my music fam! Grand Hustle, Smash Fatory, Bob, Don Cannon, Surf Club, 1500ornothin, JoiStaRR these are the people that have been slowly taking over. Now its time to go hard!!
3)Where do you feel that this music industry is heading to right now?
Music is heading to a great place because people are getting more and more as well as less creative.(lol) The thing I love is being able 2 relate. Traveling the world for the last few years w lupe fiasco, ti, david banner, snoop, mary mary, tyrese... These are all people who have different crowds, styles, and music may not be the same but it allows you 2 see how people appreciate all types of music as well as seeing places the average person won't live 2 see let alone w the people I do. I'm able to capture that feeling and display through my music. There's only a handful of Musicians that can produce and incorporate musical elements like a live band (i.e. "Show me what u got" jay z) so I love being 1 of those people. God gave me an incredible gift, as long as I'm here ill have something to do with music being more heart felt and "musical".
4)What are 3 advises that you will tell a young producer that is trying to be where you are today?
1 be persistent. 2. be subject 2 change but don't be afraid of being you! 3. Have fun and know God will present the right opportunity if its 4 you.. You just have 2 be ready!
5)Where do you see yourself in the next 3 years?
Within the next three years ill release an album, My tv show "life on mars", touring and producing 4 your fav artists
6)One must needed question, Are you single and if not why not?
Am I single?
I'm focused on being the best me I can be so when the opportunity presents itself ill be more than ready.

2. If you ever was caught off guard ad fall in love with a girl within 4 days of knowing him what would you and why?
A. Tell him upfront how you feel
B. Get scared and back away a little
C. Find out how he feels first
= I'd be expressive and tell them up front.
3. If your future Wife had to have one big flaw, which one would you choose
A. Bad breath
B. Didn't cook or clean
C. Didn't like sex as much
=Didn't like sex as much..
4. If there was one artist out there that makes you wonder what are they doing with their carreers, who would it be and why?
Missy elliot because she's really dope and I'd like 2 work w her.. Haven't heard anything 4rm her in a while and she's has historic songs!
5. If you was to describe your personality in a metaphorically way of a dessert what would it be and why?
I'd say I'm hard @ times cuz I'm so focused on my prOduction but very easy 2 work w as well (if I wanna work w you) so I'd say a peach cobbler! Lol
